Create a datum axis from a point

This example shows how to create a datum axis located at a specified position and in a specified direction.

1. Choose Home tab → Construction group → Datum Axis.
2. In the Datum Axis dialog box, from the Axis Type list, select Point and Direction.
3. In the Through Points group, with Specify Point active, specify the location for the origin of the datum axis. (This example selects the arc center as the origin.)
4. In the Direction group, with Specify Vector active, select an object to specify the direction. (This example selects a linear edge.)
5. In the Direction group, from the Orientation list, select Parallel to Vector or Perpendicular to Vector. (This example selects Parallel to Vector.)
6. Click OK or Apply.
