Path creation for backshell attachment

If the shielding component is connecting to a connector, the segment that attaches to the connector is used, just as any other wire that terminates at that connector. If, on the other hand, the shielding component is connecting to a backshell, you must create a separate segment that links the shielding component to the backshell.

Create a path segment that runs from the shield connection component to the backshell. Use the Heal Path tool, selecting the port of the shield connection component, and then the fitting port of the backshell. Depending on the location of the shield connection component relative to the backshell or connector, the path segment (and therefore the wire) may be very short.

Routing the shield connection wire

Use Auto Route or Manual Route to route the shield connection wire as usual.

Formboard

The shield connection component, whether virtual or physical, will also carry to the formboard. If the shield connects to a connector, it is included in the bundle attaching the connector. If the shield connects to a backshell, the connecting wire shows in the formboard as an extra, unconnected branch.
