From Items and To Items

The options in both groups work in the same way.

Virtual Reference Identifier — Lets you create a virtual From item or To item by specifying a name for the item.

Tip: You can create a run by creating a virtual From item or To item and specifying a Run Identifier value. Ignore this option if there is a part or component in the assembly that you want to use as a From item or To item.

Select Object — Lets you select a part or component in the graphics window. When you select a part, it appears in the List box.

Used Ports — Lists all the RCPs on the part selected in the List box that are used to connect the selected part to another part or stock (e.g. a pump with one used port).

Member Items

Select Routing Object — Lets you specify the Member items for the run. If you specify valid From items and To items that are connected, all the objects in the run that are between the two items are selected as Member items.

Properties

Run Identifier — Lets you specify a name for the run that appears in the Run Navigator.

Tip: To find a run in the Run Navigator, use the Find Run command and enter any part of the Run Identifier name as the search string.

Run Type — Lets you specify a discipline for the run. The disciplines available for selection are based on the APV file definition.

Specification

Specifications — Lets you specify which set of specifications to use for the run. The specifications available for selection are based on the APV file definition.

If you use the Define Run dialog box to edit a legacy run that has multiple specifications, or a specification that does not exist in the new NX session, NX sets the run specification to None.

When creating a run, if you set the specification of the run to:

• None — the specification attribute for all Member items is also set to None.
• A specific value (e.g. XYZ) — NX checks the specification of the Member items. If a Member item also has specification XYZ, it is retained. If any Member item has a different specification attribute, NX sets that Member item's specification to OVERRIDDEN.

When editing an existing run, if the specification of the run changes to:

• None — the specification attribute for all Member items is also set to None.
• e.g. ABC from XYZ — NX checks the Member items. If a Member item also has specification ABC, it is retained; if a Member item has a different specification attribute, NX replaces that Member item with a dummy item.
• OVERRIDDEN — the specifications of the Member items are not changed.

Unify Path — Available when you edit a run. Opens the Unify Path dialog box. You can check and change any specifications or attributes of the Member items to unify the run. NX identifies parts that do not match the specifications of the run and uses the run specifications to find replacement parts — sequentially from the From items to the To items, including all Member items of the run.
