Transform Cage dialog box

Objects

Select Object

Lets you select cage objects to move, rotate, or scale.

You can select Cage Faces, Cage Edges, Cage Vertices, or whole Control Cages.

Method

Drag

Lets you drag cage objects in the graphics window without using the transform tool.

There are six methods of motion control:

  • WCS

There are seven ways to directly control the direction of motion:

  • ** Inferred Axis

Lets you move objects parallel to any of the Work Coordinate System planes or axes, depending on the direction you drag.

  • ** XC

Lets you move only in the WCS X direction.

  • ** YC

Lets you move only in the Y direction of the WCS.

  • ** ZC

Lets you move only in the WCS Z direction.

  • ** YC-ZC

Lets you move only parallel to the WCS YZ plane.

  • ** XC-ZC

Lets you move only parallel to the WCS XZ plane.

  • ** XC-YC

Lets you move only parallel to the XY plane of the WCS.

  • Plane

Specifies a plane for controlling drag movement.

  • View

Specifies dragging only in the current view plane.

  • Normal

Specifies dragging normal to the selections.

  • Vector

Specifies dragging in the direction of the vector you choose.

  • Edge

Specifies dragging along one of the edges terminating at the vertex you are dragging. The specific edge depends on the direction of movement.

Transform

Move, rotate, or scale cage objects, using the transform tool.

Move Tool Only

Moves the tool without moving any selected cage objects.

Relocate Tool to Selection

When new objects are selected, relocates the transform tool to the newly selected objects.

Reorient Tool to Selection

When new cage objects are selected, the transform tool is reoriented to the newly selected objects.

Scaling

Controls which direction the selected cage objects are scaled.

Linear

Scales about the transformer tool origin, in the direction of the selected axis, in both directions.

Planar

Scales about the transformer tool origin, in both directions normal to the selected axis.

Uniform

Scales about the transformer tool origin, in all three directions.

Falloff

Specifies a smooth transition between the transformed objects and the remaining objects.

None

There is no falloff. This is the default

Selected

User-selected objects participate in the falloff.

All

All remaining objects participate in the falloff.

Select Falloff Object

Available when falloff is set to Selected.

Lets you select the objects involved in the falloff.

Falloff Curve slider

Available when falloff is set to Selected or All.

Sets the falloff rate.

  • ** Concave **

  • ** Linear (default) **

  • ** Convex**

Microposition

Allows for more precise movement of cage objects.

Rate: 25%

Indicates the percentage of movement of selected objects. Use the slider to set the percentage.

Step Value

Only available with Drag method.

Specifies the distance of one step.

  • Moves the selected objects in a positive direction by the value specified.

  • Moves the selected objects in a positive direction by the value specified.
