Section Tube
Use the Section Tube command in the NX Realize Shape task environment to create a tubular subdivision body close to a convergent body by specifying cross sections through the convergent geometry that you want to match.
Creating cross sections
You can create cross sections in two ways, and use the resulting cross sections in combination with each other:
Specify points on facet vertices of the on the convergent geometry. The command creates a cross section through the convergent geometry that is perpendicular to the surrounding facets at each specified point.
Select existing cage faces. You can use a combination of existing cage faces and new cross sections to connect existing subdivision geometry.
You can use these methods together to create sections consecutively. You can specify between 3 and 36 segments per cross section. For greater accuracy between the resulting section tube and the convergent geometries, specify a larger number of segments.
Creating control cages
As you specify the cross sections consecutively, a closed segment-sided cage edge loop is created and connects the cage edges between the previous and current sections with cage faces.
The Cage Continuity of new created cage elements is always Smooth.
The Weight is 0% by default.
You can change the Cage Continuity and **Weight ** after the section tube is created.
Transforming sections using the manipulator tool
You can use the manipulator tool to translate, rotate, and scale the section tube during creation.
As you define a section, you can use the section manipulator tool to transform the section.
You can use update last cross section to realign the control cage after the section is reoriented.
You can:
Translate the cage edge loop in XC, YC, and ZC
Rotate the cage edge loop around XC, YC, and ZC
Scale the cage edge loop in XC, YC, and uniform in XC and YC
