Set Weight

Use the Set Weight command to assign a weighting factor when manipulating a control cage edge.

Weighting is the attraction factor of the edges to the surface of the subdivision body.

  • This factor can be set between 0% (loose) and 100% (tight).

**

weight = 0**

**

weight = 40**

**

weight = 100**

  • For selected edges, the vertices of the edges are set to the new weighting.

  • Setting a weight immediately updates the resulting subdivision body.

Use Set Weight to control surface topology.

You can also use it to control surface flatness.

Weighting is based on edges, so if you select faces, you may be selecting adjacent edges you do not want to have weight. Having extra weighted edges can produce undesirable results. Therefore, a good practice is to select specific edges rather than faces, when possible.
