Create Path — Settings tab
For a part created in NX 5 that has not been converted from mating conditions to assembly constraints, use Create Path to interactively create routing paths, optionally assign a default bend corner on the RCPs created, assign stock to the new segments, and add elbow fittings.
The Settings tab allows actions that direct overall control of Create Path.
| Option | Description |
|---|---|
| Create Smart RCPs | Causes RCPs created by Create Path to be associative if you select objects in the work part during path creation. RCPs created in space (no objects selected, only cursor position or absolute positioning) are still created unassociative. |
| Use Interpart Extracts | Only available if Create Smart RCPs is selected. Allows RCPs to be associative to objects outside of the current work part. |
| Assign Stock | Specifies the stock to assign to segments as they are created. Methods: None (no stock assigned); Default (the stock specified as the default stock in Preferences); Start Object (the assigned stock is determined by the Destination Characteristic assigned to the selected start object — e.g. a port with NPS=10 assigns stock with NPS=10; if Destination Characteristics are insufficient, the default stock is used). |
| Assign Default Elbow | If on, elbows are automatically placed into the path, provided a suitable elbow is available. A suitable elbow: belongs to the same part table as the default elbow defined in Preferences; is the one and only elbow in the part table matching the Destination Characteristics of the path; and has the same value for ELBOW_ANG as the angle between the current and previous segment. If no suitable elbow is found, path creation continues without placing one (check the NX Log File for the reason). |
| Assign Default Corners | Automatically creates a bend corner at the junction of two newly created segments, using the default bend radius from Preferences. |
| Generate Splines | Splines are created during path creation for the Simple Path Specify Points and Shape modes. The program must allow splines for this to be available. |
| By Points | Spline construction is done by Through Points when creating segments with splines. In Shape mode, adopted splines are created By Points. |
| By Poles | Spline construction is done By Poles when creating segments with splines. In Shape mode, adopted splines are created By Poles. |
