Filler stock

A filler stock is a type of stock with special significance only to Routing Electrical. For example, a filler stock might be a metal rod used to ensure a rigid pathway for other flexible stock (such as wires) assigned a path. Parts cannot connect to Filler Stock like they can to regular stock. Routing does not display any ports at the ends of Filler Stock.

Filler Stock has special significance while computing wire bundles in Routing Electrical: for wire bundling purposes, Filler Stock is treated as an under-stock — all wires go on top of the filler stock.

Any stock can be designated a filler stock by populating a BUNDLE_FILLER characteristic in the stock part table. The presence of any value for the BUNDLE_FILLER characteristic defines the corresponding stock entry to be a filler stock.

Another way of defining filler stock is to use Qualify Part and assign a filler part type to the desired stock profile part.

The Filler Stock dialog box can be used to assign filler stock, and the Edit Stock dialog box can be used to edit filler stock by selecting Filler Stock from the Stock browser.
