Overstock

Overstock is stock applied over regular stock. The design purpose for overstock may be to insulate, to reduce chaffing, to hold wires together, or any number of reasons. Consider overstock to be stock that does not connect to anything, whereas stock does make connections.

NX deletes overstock when the stock that it covers is deleted. To retain overstock when the stock that it covers is deleted, clear the Delete Overstock along with Stock check box in the Routing Preferences dialog box.

Overstock may exist without having a stock to cover. This happens only if no stock is present over a segment which has overstock. If an existing overstock does not cover stock, and you then create new stock on the same segments, the overstock automatically assumes the new stock is stock to cover. Overstock density and weight

You can specify the density of overstock parts so that NX can calculate the exact weight of the overstock placed in the design. To do this, you must assign the attributes DENSITY and DENSITY_UNITS to the overstock parts, either in the PTB file or using TC Classification.

The DENSITY_UNITS attribute can have the following values:

Value Description
GM-CUCM Grams per cubic centimeter
KG-CUMETERS Kilograms per cubic meter
LB-CUINCHES Pounds per cubic inch
LB-CUFOOT Pounds per cubic foot
