Transformer tool shortcuts

The Transformer tool - Transform method

  • Origin handle

  • Rotation handle

  • Translate handle

  • Scale handle

Shortcuts available in Transform method

The following options are available by right-clicking the tool handles.

  • Switch to Drag Mode or Switch to Transform mode**

Switches between modes of transforming cage objects.

  • Move Tool Only

With this selected, the transformer tool is moved, but none of the selected geometry is moved.

  • Relocate Tool to Selection

With this selected, when new selections are made, the tool is moved to the newly selected items, but will not change orientation.

  • Reorient Tool to Selection

With this selected, the transformer tool is moved to the centroid of the newly selected objects, and aligned with them.

  • Align to WCS

Aligns the tool axes to be parallel to the Work Coordinate System axes.

  • Align to Absolute CSYS

Aligns the tool axes to be parallel to the Absolute Coordinate System axes.

  • Reset to Centroid of Selection

Moves the tool so its origin is located at the centroid of the selected objects. It does not change the tool’s orientation.

  • Set to Point

Presents the Point dialog box for locating the origin of the transformer tool.

  • Set to CSYS

Presents the CSYS dialog box for you to determine the orientation and location of the transformer tool.

  • Set to Vector

Presents the Vector dialog box for you to defined the direction of the selected transformer axis.

  • Set to Plane

Opens the Plane dialog box for you to define the desired plane of a selected rotation handle (an arc).

  • Linear Scaling

Scales selected objects in the direction of the handle and its opposite direction. Scaling is done about the transformer tool origin.

  • Planar Scaling

Scales selected objects in both directions normal to the scale handle being dragged. (In other words, if you drag the Z handle, scaling will occur in the XY plane.) Scaling is done about the transformer tool origin.

  • Uniform Scaling

Scales selected objects in all directions, regardless of which scale handle is dragged. Scaling is done about the transformer tool origin.

Note: Not all of these shortcuts are available for all the transformer tool handles.

The Transformer tool - Drag method

    1. Plane handle
    1. Axis handle

Shortcuts available in Drag method

The following options are available by right-clicking the tool handles.

  • Switch to Transform Method or Switch to Transform Method

Allows switching between modes of transforming cage objects.

  • WCS

Limits the dragging to the specified axis or plane of the Work Coordinate System.

  • View

Limits the dragging to the current view plane.

  • Vector

Limits dragging to parallel to the specified vector.

  • Plane

Limits the dragging to a plane parallel to the defined plane.

  • Normal

Limits the dragging to be normal to the objects selected.

  • Edge

Slides the selected objects along one of the edges - depending on the drag direction.

  • Align to WCS

Aligns the tool axes parallel to the Work Coordinate System axes.

  • Align to Absolute CSYC

Aligns the tool axes parallel to the Absolute Coordinate System axes.

  • Set to Vector

Opens the Vector dialog box for you to define the direction of the selected transformer axis.
