Merge Face

Use the Merge Face command to combine selected cage faces, or cage faces adjacent to selected edges, into a single cage face.

The following example shows four cage faces selected, and then merged to improve the topology. Notice the undulations in the left graphic.

You can:

  • Remove or modify the topology of the subdivision body.

  • Simplify the subdivision body and its control cage structure.

  • Create fewer but more complex cage faces.

Considerations when merging subdivision body faces

  • You can select more than two cage faces to merge, but the cage faces must be connected.

  • The cage faces you select must be able to build a rectangular, planar matrix of control cage elements.

  • You can select one or more cage edges to merge the faces adjacent to them.
