Pre-NX Datum Planes

Note: This section describes dialog options for relative datum planes that were created prior to NX (legacy behavior retained for downward compatibility).

This legacy sub-section of Datum Plane documentation covers the older dialog options and constraint model, and includes these sub-topics: Pre-NX Datum Plane Options and Methods, Pre-NX Datum Plane Constraints, Pre-NX Datum Plane Constraint Examples, and Pre-NX Other Datum Plane options.

Pre-NX Datum Plane Dialog Options

• Edit — Lets you edit relative datum plane parameters.
• Angle — Lets you enter an angle parameter value for the Angle to plane constraint. The system recognizes this value only when it is applicable.
• Offset — Lets you enter an offset parameter value for the Offset to plane constraint.
• Filter — Helps you select geometry by letting you limit the selectable types. The options are: Point on Edge, Face, Edge, Datum Planes, Datum Axis, Curve and Any.
• Point Method — Lets you choose a point selection mode for selecting point constraints.
• Modify Point — Opens the Modify Point dialog to let you change a point constraint to a different point when creating a through curve datum plane. The new point does not have to be an endpoint. (Selecting additional geometry may change the list of constraints.)
• Constraint Information — Displays the various datum plane types and options in the Information window.
• Fixed Datum Plane — Lets you create datum planes that are not referenced or constrained by other geometric objects, except by a user defined feature.
• Other Datum Types — Opens the Other Datum Planes dialog, where you can create datum planes based on a point and a direction, and on three points.
