Shell

Use the Shell command to hollow out a solid body or to create a shell around it by specifying wall thicknesses. You can also assign individual thicknesses to faces or remove individual faces.

Create a Shell feature

This example shows how to create a Shell feature by hollowing out a solid body using different wall thicknesses.

  1. Choose Home tab→Base group→Shell .
  2. From the Type list, select Open.

In the Face group, Select Face is selected. 3. Select the top face.

A preview of the shell appears. 4. To change the thickness, in the Thickness group, in the Thickness box, type 5 mm and press the Tab key.

The preview of the shell updates with the new thickness value. 5. To change the thickness of select faces, in the Alternate Thickness group, click Select Face and select the three faces shown. 6. In the Thickness 1 box type 15 mm and press the Tab key.

The shell preview updates with the new values for the three faces. 7. Click OK or Apply to create the shell.
