Symmetric Modeling
Use the Start Symmetric Modeling command when you want to create geometry that is symmetric in your model.
You can easily turn symmetric modeling on or off while creating geometry.
Start Symmetric Modeling
When selected, your subdivision modeling geometry is mirrored about a plane you specify.
Any manipulation of the control cage immediately triggers an update of the subdivision body and its mirrored half.
You can either select open edges to be projected to the symmetry plane establishing a closed model or let the system cut a closed model at the symmetry plane.
Open edges on the symmetry plane are allowed.
As long as Symmetric Modeling is enabled, the resulting subdivision body is established by the original half and the mirrored one.
Stop Symmetric Modeling
When selected, symmetry mode is turned off.
Any mirrored geometry gets its own control cage and becomes an independent object.
This workflow is useful if users want to shape a symmetric shape first and then adding asymmetric details later.
