Tips and techniques: Weighting
Remember that weighting is set on edges. When you apply weight to a face, you are applying weight to all of its edges.
Avoid setting weight on multiple selected faces.
This may overweight the subdivision model with edge weighting set on multiple intersecting edges causing surface topology issues.
**
Set Weight on faces = overweighting of internal edges**
**
Set Weight on edges = better surface topology**
- It is not a good practice to set both edge weighting and sharp continuity on the same edge.
Adding weight to an edge that already has sharp continuity has no effect – continuity overrides weighting.
- Subdividing faces affects the weighting that may have been applied to the edges of those faces.
