Resolving duplicate RCPs and segments

Some actions like copying an object to another assembly or splitting segments may create duplicate RCPs or segments, or both, in the design. You can manually delete such duplicates or resolve the duplicates using one of the following methods.

Merge Duplicates preference

This preference is available in the Routing Preferences dialog box, on the Paths tab.

Select the Merge Duplicates check box if you want NX to continuously check for duplicate RCPs and delete them.

Connect Path command

Use this command to connect discontinuous paths, merge duplicate RCPs, and delete duplicate segments where RCPs are merged.

Simplify Path command

Use this command to remove unnecessary RCPs.

Check for Duplicate Segments check box

This check box is available in the Transform Path dialog box, in the Settings group.

When you use the Transform Path command, the moving or copying operation sometimes creates duplicate segments. Select the Check for Duplicate Segments check box if you want NX to check for duplicate segments before and after the move or copy operation. The results of this check:

Use case When you copy When you move
Duplicate segments exist in the objects selected for move or copy. NX does not change the original selection, and duplicate segments are not merged. NX merges duplicate segments since the original selection is modified.
When duplicates are created as a result of the move or copy operation NX merges duplicate segments in the original selection and the copied object. NX merges duplicate segments since the original selection is modified.

(Note: for the "when you copy" case, NX also merges duplicate segments in the copied objects.)
