View Cableways Layout

Use the View Cableways Layout command to view the cross section of a rectangular cableway and its contents. The cable segment you select must have rectangular space reservation or raceway stock applied to it.

When you select a cable segment, the View Cableways Layout command creates a pictorial representation of the cableway with the individual conductors routed through it.

The cableways layout represents the dimensions of the space reservation or the raceway stock, as defined by the space reservation's WIDTH and HEIGHT characteristics, or the raceway stock's CABLETRAY_WIDTH and CABLETRAY_HEIGHT characteristics, respectively.

Cableways Layout plugin

The View Cableways Layout command implements a default algorithm to minimize the area of the wire bundle through a Routing plugin called CABLEWAYS_LAYOUT. The entry point for this plugin is the UFD_ROUTE_ELECTRICAL_Cableways_Layout method. You should not change the prototype of the routine in the header file. You can replace this plugin by writing your own NX Open program.

Sorting wires or cable connections via a plugin

The UFD_Routing_Sort_Connections sample plugin demonstrates how to sort wire bundle connections based on diameter attributes (largest to smallest). You can enable the plugin and then modify it to specify which set of connections should get routed through a cableway first.

Managing cableway layouts

• To move a cableway layout as you create it, use a point option from the Specify Orientation row or drag the Manipulator in the graphics window.
• To move a cableway layout after you create it, in the Part Navigator, right-click the group associated with the cableway layout and choose Move Object.
• The cableway cross section inherits the color selection of individual conductors from the wire stock settings in the Electrical Connection Wizard. To change the stock color, edit the stock selection using the wizard.
• To delete a cableway layout, select it in the graphics window, right-click the group, and choose Delete.
