Cage Polyline

Use the Cage Polyline command to create or edit a line or series of lines used to create control cages. Cage polylines are useful for extruding, revolving, lofting, or sweeping operations.

**Example:

A three segment polyline selected to be revolved

The polyline revolved 360 degrees, in eight segments

A cage polyline is created by specifying its points. Each point specified defines a segment of the polyline.

You can:

  • Select any point, on cage geometry or non-cage geometry.

  • Drag the location of any polyline segment end point.

  • Customize the color, line style, width, and vertex style of cage polylines in the NX Realize Shape Preferences dialog box.

When you leave the NX Realize Shape task environment, any cage polylines in the current subdivision feature are hidden. They are only displayed again when you edit that particular subdivision feature.

You can have subdivision features with only cage polylines, but you must edit them through the Part Navigator because they are not displayed outside the NX Realize Shape task environment.
