Move and rotate cage faces to refine a shape

This example shows you how to rotate and move cage faces to begin making a spout for a bottle.

  1. Choose Home tab→Modify group→Transform Cage .

  2. In the Method group, click the Transform tab.

  3. Select the four faces at the top of the bottle.

  4. Select the tool origin handle and then right-click and choose Move Tool Only.

Notice that the transform tool changes color to signal that you are in Move Tool Only mode.

  1. Drag the Y-Translate handle just beyond the planar top of the bottle.

  2. Select the transform tool origin handle, then right-click and select the Move Tool Only option to clear the check mark.

  3. Drag the YZ Rotate handle to create an angle for the spout.

  4. Middle-click to apply.

You need to apply the changes because you are going to continue transforming the cage.

Transform Cage is still active.

  1. Select the top center face of the bottle.

  2. In the graphics window, drag the Z-Translate handle.

  3. Middle-click to complete the transform.
