Place Electrical Component

Use the Place Electrical Component command to find and place a part from the Routing Part Library into a wiring harness assembly.

You can use the command to automatically find a suitable routing part to place, based on minimal information in the electrical data, such as a part name or Item ID, and a destination port. If a matching part cannot be automatically found, you can manually select one to place from the Specify Item dialog box. The method used to place a routing part in the wiring harness assembly is indicated in the Assigned column of the Electrical Component Navigator.

In the modular connector example, a modular connector's subcomponents are mapped to the modular parent's fitting ports, as indicated by the Parent Port Name column in the Electrical Component Navigator.

If you right-click a subcomponent (e.g., C-664) and choose Place, NX searches the Routing Part Library for a part whose name or item ID matches the object's Part Name (e.g., AMC-Insert-2p). If a matching part is found, it is automatically placed on a device port or modular parent port. In this case, the status in the Assigned column is represented by an M for manual assignment.

Where do I find it?

Application Routing Electrical + a Routing specialty application
Prerequisites The object you right-click in the Electrical Component Navigator must have: (1) a defined Part Name that matches a part in the Routing Part Library, and (2) a destination port defined, as indicated in the Parent Port Name column. The part to be automatically placed must not be explicitly assigned to a specific connector, and must be assigned through the connector's parent module, as indicated by the gray check mark in the Device ID column.
