Built-in paths in components
Built-in paths are used in components such as cable trays and backshells to let you route a wire through the component by connecting the wire to more than one fixture port in that component. Built-in paths let you create paths in an assembly easily without creating a path through the backshell to the connector.
When you place a backshell component, the work part geometry is created automatically. You can directly attach the paths to the fixture ports.
Caution: The work part geometry created for built-in paths is created only when you use the Place Part command. If you delete the work part geometry and want to regenerate the built-in paths, you must delete the component and place it again.
Siemens Digital Industries Software does not recommend that you manually wave-link built-in path geometry from the component to the work part.
If a component contains a built-in path, it must be used in the harness assembly. It is not recommended that you circumvent a built-in path by manually creating a path through a component.
