Reinforce a rectangular duct

This example shows how to reinforce a rectangular parent duct from the inside, using parallel and perpendicular stiffeners as specified stock.

Before you begin

In the Modeling application, select the Routing Mechanical and HVAC applications.
In the Routing Preferences dialog box, set the discipline to HVAC.
Make sure that the duct stock is hollow and display it using the Detailed Solid style of stock representation.
Make sure the components are fully loaded.

Choose Home tab → HVAC group → Duct Reinforcement.
Select the rectangular duct to reinforce.
In the Reinforcement group, from the Type list, select Inside.
Select the reinforcement stock to create stiffeners parallel to the axis of the duct:
- Under Parallel to Axis of Duct, from the Stock list, select Specified Stock.
- Click Specify Stock and in the Specify Item dialog box, select the duct reinforcement stock from the Reuse Library (example: Reinforcement1).
- Click OK to return to the Duct Reinforcement dialog box. The name of the stock you specified is displayed in the Stock group.
Select reinforcement stock to create stiffeners perpendicular to the axis of the duct:
- In the Reinforcement group, under Perpendicular to Axis of Duct, from the Stock list, select Specified Stock.
- Select the duct reinforcement from the Reuse Library following the same steps as for the parallel stiffeners (example: Reinforcement1).
In the Spacing box, type the value to set the spacing between the stiffeners (example: 100).
From the Location list, select the location to specify the location of the stiffener along the curve (example: Arc Length).
In the Minimum Clearance box, type the value for the arc length (example: 30).
Click OK to create the stiffeners.
