Drag and drop routing objects from the Reuse Library

You can drag and drop objects from the Reuse Library and place them using one of the following methods.

Method 1: Search first (when you know the destination characteristics)

If you know the routing characteristics of the destination routing object, you can search for a part in the Reuse Library and drag and drop the member node onto the work part:

1. In the Reuse Library, right-click a node under Routing Part Library and choose Search Children.
2. Specify the search criteria in the Routing Reuse Search dialog box.
3. NX searches for parts that match the specified search criteria, and displays the valid search results in the Member Select window.
4. Drag and drop any one of the member nodes from the Member Select window onto the destination routing object or the empty space in the work part.

Method 2: Part Family Template (when you don't know the destination characteristics)

If you do not know the characteristics of the destination routing object, you can drag and drop the Part Family Template node in the part. When you use the Part Family Template node, NX automatically identifies the characteristics of the destination routing object and uses those characteristics as filters to search for the appropriate member part:

1. In the Reuse Library, expand the Routing Part Library node and select the node that contains all the parts of a particular family — for example, to place a weld neck flange, select Piping Parts → Flanges → WN DIN 2629 ND 320.
2. In the Member Select group, NX displays the Part Family Template node along with all the available parts.
3. Drag and drop the Part Family Template node onto the destination routing object.
4. In the Routing Reuse Search dialog box, only the parts that match the characteristics of the destination routing object are displayed in the Select Part for Placement group.
5. Select the required member part from the Select Part for Placement list.
6. NX places the part at the specified location.

The Place Part dialog box launches for part nodes, and the Stock dialog box launches for stock nodes depending on the type of stock selected. The Stock dialog boxes are always launched in edit mode. If an overstock is dropped onto a segment, then the application method is set to Entire Segments by default and it always covers all the stocks already present on the selected segment. These options can be edited from the Overstock dialog box.

Note: The drag and drop feature is not available from the Specify Item dialog box, but only from the Reuse Library Navigator.
