Create half a shaped tube using extract polyline

This example shows you how to extract polylines from non-cage geometry splines, and then extrude the polylines to begin to create a shaped tube.

  1. Choose Home tab→Polyline group→Extract Cage Polyline .

  2. Select the curves.

In this example, two splines are selected.

  1. In the Extract Cage Polyline dialog box, set the following:
  • Segments group

  • Number of Segments = 3

  • Settings group

  • Input Curves = Hide

  1. Choose Home tab→Create group→Extrude Cage .

  2. On the Top border bar, from the Type Filter list, select Curve.

  3. With Select Object active, select the bottom polyline.

  4. In the Direction group, from the list, select Vector.

  5. With Specify Vector active, from the vector list , choose ZC .

  6. Drag the Distance handle to 15.

  7. Middle-click to Apply.

  8. Select the top polyline.

  9. Drag the Distance handle to 15.

  10. Middle-click to apply or select another NX Realize Shape command.


You could complete the half tube by using Loft Cage to connect the tops of the two extruded sheets.
