Connect Cage

Use the Connect Cage command to associatively connect a subdivision body to sheet bodies or curves outside of the subdivsion feature.

  • Selected cage edges must be continuous and open.

  • Cage edges can form a closed ring.

  • Selected external reference must be continuous face edges or curves.

  • Cage edges and the external reference must either both be open or both be closed.

  • Connect Cage supports Symmetric Modeling.

Note: You cannot specify cage edges that lie on the symmetry plane.

When you connect a subdivsion cage to external geometry:

  • Constraint attributes are applied to the cage edges and they become persistent constrained objects, which cannot be modified until you remove the constraint using the Delete Constraint command.

  • Changes to the external reference geometry affect the constrained region of the subdivision model.

Why should I use it?

You can create smooth connections between subdivision features and other sheet bodies.
