Customize standard data tables for hole features

You can edit the XML files that contain the standard data tables used to create Drill Size, Screw Clearance, and Threaded hole features.

Procedure

1. Navigate to the UGII_BASE_DIR\ugii\modeling_standards directory.
2. Open these XML files in Excel or an XML editor:
   • NX_Screw_Clearance_Hole_Standard.xml
   • NX_Thread_Standard.xml
   • NX_Drill_Size_Hole_Standard.xml
3. Edit the data as required.
   • Note: You must retain the column names that define the hole parameters. For more information about the column names and the corresponding hole parameters in the dialog box, see "Standard data tables for hole features."
   • You can modify the standards string to create user defined string expressions that do not contain any invalid or special characters. The NX Knowledge Fusion language uses the tilde (~) character as an escape character within strings, to include special characters such as double quotes.
4. If you edit the file in Excel, choose Data → XML → Export to export the XLS file as XML.
5. Save the standard file at the required location using the default file name.
   • If you save the file in the UGII_BASE_DIR\ugii\modeling_standards directory, skip to step 7.
6. Set the environment variable to specify the location of the customized data tables:
   • UGII_SCREW_CLEARANCE_HOLE_STANDARD_DIR
   • UGII_THREADED_HOLE_STANDARD_DIR
   • UGII_DRILL_SIZE_HOLE_STANDARD_DIR
7. Restart NX for the edited data tables to take effect.

The hole features now use the customized data tables to specify the options and the corresponding parameters in the Hole dialog box.
