Check and Calculate Pipe Production Length

Use this command to examine pipe ports received as inputs.

What NX does

  1. Determines which stock or pipe the port belongs to.
  2. Determines the appropriate bend machine to use.
  3. Reads the template length from the pipe end port and calculates the required cut length.
    • If the template length is longer than the calculated cut length, the cut length is set to 0. In all other cases: [CUT_LENGTH] = [CALCULATED_CUT_LENGTH] – [TEMPLATE_LENGTH]
    • This is true even when cut length = 0.
  4. Calculates the required shrinkage compensation.
    • If the template length is longer than the calculated weld shrinkage, NX sets the weld shrinkage to 0.
  5. Locates the other stock port and computes the production length using the values from both end ports. The value of the production length is stored in the appropriate attribute on the pipe.
    • If NX cannot calculate the additional production length, it reports a violation.
  6. Adds the following attributes as needed:
    • Attributes on the port to manage additional production length, e.g. CUT_LENGTH, TEMPLATE_LENGTH, WELD_SHRINKAGE.
    • An attribute on the stock to store the calculated production length.
    • Attributes on the stock to store the assigned bend machines.

This command helps you update the cut lengths and weld shrinkages of a port based on changes made to the template length value.

  • The callback location is ugroute_mech\plugins.
  • The command runs automatically when you click OK or Apply in the Tools → Additional Pipe Length dialog box.
