Routing aware characteristics (Legacy)
Routing Mechanical understands the meaning of many characteristics. If you define these characteristics, they may control certain behaviors.

BOLT_DIA |
In Routing Mechanical Flange Placement callback, used to determine the type of bolts to be included as unmodeled hardware. Defined in the gasket part table. |
BOLT_LEN |
In Routing Mechanical Flange Placement callback, used to determine the type of bolts to be included as unmodeled hardware. Calculated by the callback program. |
BW |
Standing for Butt Weld, used by Routing Mechanical to determine flange type for compatibility design rule processing. |
CABLE_LOCATION |
Location of a flat cable in a stack of flat cables (future). |
CLASS |
The class of a mechanical fitting (300, 600, and so on). |
COLOR |
You can specify the color of stock in the stock part table by defining this characteristic. |
COMPONENT_NAME |
The name assigned to a component. |
CONNECTION_TYPE |
For a Routing Mechanical fitting, the type of flange-to-flange connection (Flange, Butt Weld, Socket Weld, and so on). Used by the default Connection Compatibility design rule and the example Piping Place Part Callback program. |
CUT_BACK_LENGTH |
On a Routing Electrical multiport, the distance from the multiport origin, along the connecting segment, at which Create Terminal breaks out the terminal segments from the bundle. |
CUT_ELBOW_ANG |
For Routing Mechanical Cut Elbow, the angle at which the elbow is cut. Elbow parts must have this characteristic for the cut elbow function to succeed. |
DESCRIPTION |
For Routing BOM, the values are placed in the description box of the parts list. Typically defined as an Applied Characteristic, combining several other characteristics and text in the fitting part tables. |
DIAMETER |
Used by the Bend Corner function and the Design Rules. Typically the actual value of the outer diameter of a pipe or tube, as opposed to NPS, which is the nominal diameter. |
ELBOW_ANG |
For Routing Mechanical, the angle of the standard elbow, usually 45° or 90°. Drives the geometry of the elbow part family members. |
ENGAGE |
The value of the engagement distance for a port (overrides the port's Engagement Distance value if defined). |
EXTENSION_LENGTH |
The value of the extension length of a port (overrides the port's Extension Length value if defined). |
FACE_DEP |

FACE_TYPE |
For Routing Mechanical, specifies a flange face type as RF (raised face), RJ (ring joint), or FF (flat face). |
FLANGE |
In Routing Mechanical, determines if the fitting has a flange (same as FLANGED). |
FLANGED |
In Routing Mechanical, determines if the fitting has a flange (same as FLANGE). |
FLANGE_THK |
In Routing Mechanical, gives the thickness of the flange on a flanged fitting. |
GASKET |
For Routing Mechanical, assigned to a port, determines that the connection requires a gasket. |
GASKET_THK |
For Routing Mechanical, specifies the thickness of a gasket. |
GENDER |
Provides the value of gender, either male or female. Used by Design Rules. |
HEIGHT |
The height of a rectangular stock. |
LENGTH_ADDITION |
For Routing Electrical, a characteristic of a port that adds a length to any wire connected to that point. |
MEMBER_NAME |
The name of the part family member of a fitting or stock, provided by the part table. |
MIN_BEND_RADIUS |
The minimum bend radius of a stock. If present, overrides the preference value used for all stocks. |
NPS |
For Routing Mechanical, gives the Nominal Pipe Size (NPS) of a fitting or pipe. |
NUMBER_OF |
For Routing BOM, specifies the number of unmodeled hardware items to add to the parts list (such as 6 bolts). |
NUM_BOLTS |
For Routing Mechanical Flange Placement callback, specifies the number of bolts required for a flange-to-flange connection (defined in the gasket part table). |
NUTS |
For Routing Mechanical Flange Placement callback, specifies if the bolts or studs are with or without nuts. Value is either Yes or No. |
OD |
The outside diameter of a stock, usually used for tubing stock. |
OVERSTOCK_TYPE |
The type of overstock (wrapped, flagged, sleeved, or fixed). Aids in selection during overstock assignment. |
PART_NAME |
The name of the family template part file from which a member (MEMBER_NAME) is created. If MEMBER_NAME is not present in the part table file, PART_NAME is merely the name of a non-part-family template part. |
PART_NUMBER |
The part number assigned to a fitting or stock (may appear in the parts list). |
RATING |
For Routing Mechanical, the pressure rating of a fitting or pipe. |
REFERENCE_SET |
The name of the reference set to be used in a Place Part operation (if not defined, Entire Part is used). |
RUN_ID |
The identifier assigned to every member of a defined run. The value for all members of the run (both stock and components) is the run identifier string. |
RUN_POSITION |
The identifier assigned to every member of a defined run by the Run Numbering plug-in program. Each member of the run has a unique value within the run. |
SPOOL_ID |
The identifier assigned to every member of a defined spool. The value for all members of the spool is the spool identifier string assigned during the Detect Spools process. |
SPOOL_POSITION |
The identifier assigned to every member of a defined run by the Spool Numbering plug-in program. |
STOCK_PART_ID |
For Routing Electrical, identifies the name of the characteristic (typically OD) associated with the wire stock used to determine if two stocks are equivalent when no other characteristic (such as PART_NUMBER) is available. |
UNIQUE_ID |
For Routing Electrical, used to designate the identifier of a device and to designate the pin name of a port. |
WEIGHT |
Used to set the mass properties for stock and fittings. |
WEIGHT_UNITS |
Specifies the units of the WEIGHT characteristic. |
WIDTH |
The width of a rectangular stock. |
