ECAD-MCAD integration modes
Electrical data exchanges can be implemented between Capital and NX in a variety of integration modes:
Direct Integration
- Capital and NX simultaneously access and modify electrical connection data.
- Capital and NX users can work independently of each other, at different times, and on different computer systems to share connection data.
- NX imports electrical connection data from Capital via the Capital Navigator.
- NX exports connection data to disk or as a TCI named reference, where it can be retrieved by Capital.
Connected (bridged) mode
Both NX and Capital operate on the same terminal and connect to each other per the connection setting (NX Connect Bridge) in Capital. Both applications exchange data through bridge-in and bridge-out commands, so there is no need to store any data locally.
The only requirement in this mode, as compared to the Direct Integration mode, is that both applications should be running simultaneously.
Disconnected mode
- Native: Capital and NX are not running together. Data exchanges occur via manual file transmittal, either in ZIP format, or in a combined PLMXML+JSON format, without any direct synchronization between the two applications. Users can import/export the electrical data to/from disk in NX and Capital.
- Managed: Data exchanges between NX and Capital happen through Teamcenter. From NX, the user can import or export data from/to a dataset in Teamcenter. Similarly, the Capital user can also import/export data from a dataset in Teamcenter. NX-Capital data exchanges occur via manual file submittal, either in ZIP format, or in a combined PLMXML+JSON format, without any direct synchronization between the two applications.
