Assembly constraints

If the part you want to move is subject to assembly constraints, then the Move Part methods may be limited by those constraints. Any translation or rotation that you define will not occur if doing so would violate an assembly constraint. The Status Line informs you of this situation when it occurs.

There are two exceptions: the Placement Object and Along Curve methods are not subject to assembly constraints. Typically these functions must break the constraints in order to provide any reasonable transformation. For this reason, these two functions produce a message allowing you to cancel the move or to proceed by removing the assembly constraint(s).

Move stock part

If a stock component is moved using Move Part (or Assemblies Reposition Component), it will be moved back when the stock associated with that component updates. Any assembly constraints that apply to stock components are broken when the stock goes through update. The reason for this is that the stock components are dependent upon, and defined by, the path that the component follows.

Note: This functionality does not apply to legacy stock.
