Guidelines when modeling with NX Realize Shape
You can avoid complications while subdivision modeling by following some fundamental guidelines.
Keep your control cage as simple as possible.
N-sided polygon control cages are supported, but as a best practice, use quadrilateral polygon control cages as much as possible to achieve better results.
To achieve transitional shapes and feature lines, it is best to use split or subdivide the control cage. Setting weight and continuity on the control cage should be used sparingly.
When setting weight and continuity on a control cage, it is a good practice to select edges to avoid inadvertently applying weight or continuity to internal face edges, when multiple contiguous faces are selected.
Although it is possible to create multiple bodies within a single subdivision feature, it is only recommended as an aid to creating a single subdivision form.
For example, creating multiple subdivision bodies that will be shaped and combined prior to exiting the NX Realize Shape task environment.
Avoid extruding control cage elements a zero length.
To get better performance during dragging operations, use lower display resolution when working in the task environment.
