Specify Item dialog box

The Specify Item dialog box is designed to look similar to the Reuse Library Navigator. The master node and all its children appear as nodes of a tree structure similar to the display in Reuse Library Navigator.

Unlike the Reuse Library Navigator, where both part and stock nodes for the current discipline are displayed together, the node(s) that appear in the Specify Item dialog box depend on where you started the dialog box:

  • If invoked from the Place Part dialog box, Start_Fitting_Node becomes the master node with all its children below it.
  • Similarly, Start_Stock_Node, Start_Overstock_Node, Start_Filler_Node, or Start_Space_Reservation_Node becomes the master node if the Specify Item dialog box is started from the Stock, Overstock, Filler, or Space Reservation dialog boxes, respectively.

The Specify Item dialog box also has a Member View section similar to the Member Select window in Reuse Library Navigator. It also has a search mechanism similar to the one in Reuse Library Navigator, in order to filter the parts and stocks based on the desired values for the characteristics.

The Specify Item dialog box provides a capability to select component parts already present in the work part instead of selecting a part from the Member View window. You can either select a part from the graphical window or from the parts listed under Loaded Parts.

The Specify Item dialog box allows you to select a part from a folder on the disk. You can browse to a folder by clicking on the folder icon.

The Required/Optional Characteristics block is displayed in the Specify Item dialog box depending on whether any of these characteristics has been defined for the present discipline in the application view file. You can specify a value for these characteristics and assign them on the selected part.
