Replace Part

Use Replace Part to substitute one part for another. How well the system places the new part in the location of the old part depends on the similarities of the parts. If they are very similar, the placement is usually correct. If the two parts are not similar, the placement solution may not be as desired. The Replace Part function is for replacing parts with similar parts.

Use Replace Part in a routing assembly rather than the Assemblies Substitute Component command. Replace Part maintains connections and invokes design rule checking, whereas Substitute Component does not.

Note: When you replace a part, we recommend that you select the part for placement in the Routing Part Library or in the graphics window. When you select a part from the Loaded Parts list in the Specify Item dialog box, NX may not apply all the PTB or Classification attributes associated with the part.

Replacing parts with modeled terminals

If you attempt to replace an electrical part whose terminals have been modeled in a harness assembly, the following warning is issued:

Modeled Terminals exist on the part to be replaced. Please delete them before performing Replace Part.

You will need to use the Unmodel All command to remove the modeled terminals from the harness assembly. For more information, see Create Terminals.
