Using Routing applications > Routing Electrical > Cabling > Cableways
Cableways Properties
Use the Cableways Properties command to specify attributes related to the dimensions of cableways on cableway connection segments. You can use these attributes for making fill calculations and for judging the space requirements for cables or wires that are routed through a cable tray or a space reservation stock. You can also use these attributes with segments that have no stock defined on them or with segments that are associated with built-in paths.
NX creates the following attributes on routing segments when you use the Cableways Properties command:
SPECIFIED_FILL_PERCENTAGECABLETRAY_AREACABLETRAY_WIDTHCABLETRAY_HEIGHTCABLETRAY_MAXHEIGHTALLOW_OVERFILL
Cableways fill calculations
You can set Wiring preferences to:
Prevent routing if fill calculations violate the maximum allowable fill percentage — select the Perform Fill Calculations When Routing Connections check box. If cleared, NX still performs fill calculations and checks each segment on the path for overfilling; NX routes a wire or cable through the path only if the fill percentage is not violated for all segments on the path.
Auto-route using alternate paths for overfills — select the Auto-route using Alternate Paths for Overfills check box.
Note: When this option is selected, NX routes connections alphabetically based on connection IDs or connection names, and checks alternate paths based on increasing path lengths.
Set the default status of the Allow Overfill check box in the Cableway Properties dialog box — this lets you override violations when a cable tray is overfilled — via the Allow Overfill Wiring preference.
To find any of the customer defaults mentioned above, choose File tab→Utilities→Customer Defaults, and click Find Default.
