Tapered Hole

Typical applications

Tapered holes can be created to later receive a taper pin to create a conical pressure joint. Frequently used to attach flange sections of sheet metal.

Reverse tapered holes increase the coefficient of discharge of the hole. Typically used in applications where a fluid is dispensed through an orifice (entering at the large diameter and exiting at the small diameter). Examples:

• Inkjet nozzles
• Diesel fuel injection nozzles
• Biomedical cell sorters
