Common path settings

These path settings are shared by the following Routing path commands:

  • Create Linear Path
  • Heal Path, when Generate is set to Lines
  • Quick Path

Settings

Assign Default Corner — Automatically generates a corner segment, as defined in the Routing Preferences dialog box, between the new segment and previous segment in the path. This option is overridden if you set Assign Default Elbow and a valid elbow can be placed at the corner RCP.

Assign Default Elbow — Automatically places a suitable elbow between the new segment and the previously created segment in the path. A suitable elbow is one that:

  • Belongs to the same part family template as the default elbow.
  • Is the only elbow in the PTB that matches the Destination Characteristics of the path.
  • Has the same ELBOW_ANG characteristic value as the angle value between the current segment being created and the previously created segment.

Note: You must specify a default elbow beforehand in the Parts tab of the Routing preferences dialog box. If NX cannot place a default elbow at the corner RCP, path creation continues by simply not placing an elbow at the RCP, or by placing a default corner segment at the RCP.

Allow Cut Elbow — Automatically places a cut elbow at the RCP of a non-standard (neither 45° nor 90°) corner. This option becomes available when:

  • The Routing Piping and Tubing specialty application is checked out.
  • A default elbow is specified in the Routing preferences, and the Assign Default Elbow check box is selected.

NX produces a cut elbow from the default elbow part. The default elbow must have the ALLOW_CUT_ELBOW attribute set to TRUE.

Lock to Selected Object — Applies a Parallel and Touch constraint to the path segment and its start or end objects in order to maintain path connectivity between them.

Lock Length — Applies a Distance constraint between the segment start and end point to lock its length.

Lock Angle — Applies an Angle or Perpendicular constraint between the new segment and the previous segment in the path. If an elbow or other fitting is placed on the corner, NX omits the constraint and uses the angle of the fitting to lock the angle between the adjacent segments.
